Flight Lieutenant Troy Ratcliffe RAFAC

Joined RAFAC: 2012


Flt Lt Ratcliffe joined 2203 Sqn in 2012 quickly becoming a key member of the team as a Civilian Instructor. keen to further his career in the ATC in December 2014 he was commissioned as an officer in the RAFAC.

As officer commanding Flt Lt Ratcliffe looks after the overall running of 2203 Sqn. He is in charge of providing a full and varied training program that provides the total air cadet experience. Opportunities provided include organising camps and training courses. Flt Lt Ratcliffe is the key member of the Sqn staff when it comes to the recruitment of our cadets, regularly visiting schools, attending local events and being an ambassador for 2203 Sqn. It is true to say that the Flt Lt leads by example.

Sergeant Doug Harvey RAF

Joined RAFAC: 2014


Sgt Harvey first joined 2203 in 2014 as an SNCO he now works with us as a Service instructor. Sgt Harvey is a full time RAF test Sgt and performs the role of SNCO on the Sqn. With over 25 years of service in the RAF, Sgt Harvey has bought his considerable knowledge and experience of the RAF to 2203 and has provided invaluable support for our cadets, Sgt Harvey is responsible for the sqn NCO’s and as a team they look after cadet uniform standards, discipline and all areas of drill.


His experience has proven invaluable when we prepare for our ceremonial duties allowing cadets to have a staff contact who can train them in the very high standards needed to be a member of the ATC & onwards into Military or Civilian life.

Civillian Instructor Philip Crawford

Joined RAFAC: 1977


CI Crawford joined the squadron in 2012 as a Civilian Instructor and has over the years developed a reputation as an award winning CI.


CI Crawford is our aircraft specialist and as such has helped the cadets win several awards. His classroom knowledge is exceptional and he can always be relied upon to provide answers to technical and the more practical aviation questions. He has also taught and trained the cadets in model aircraft and glider flying. As an ex cadet himself he has invaluable experience in several areas, achieving Gold standard in the DofE he has a wide and varied skill set.

Civillian Instructor Jacob Morewood

Joined RAFAC: 2008


CI Morewood joined us at 2203 Sqn in 2013 as a Cadet Corporal. He rapidly developed and became a Cadet Warrant Officer before aging out at age 20. Since then Mr Morewood has taken on the role of IT expert, H&S officer and First Aid training to name but a few duties.


He works closely with the rest of the staff team in providing a safe and secure environment for the cadets. The experiences gained as a cadet have proven invaluable to the cadets and Sqn as a whole.

Civillian Instructor Katerina Theodorou

Joined RAFAC: 2017


CI Theodorou joined us in 2017, she was keen to understand more about the ATC and what we offer. Now she is learning rapidly about what is available for new staff and cadets.


CI Theodorou works with some of our DofE cadets on support for their projects, she is a key point of contact especially for the girls on the Sqn and looks after our uniform and stores.

Squadron Padre: Maj Bramwell Hayes

Joined RAFAC: 2009


Captain Hayes is our Squadron Padre and as such has been a main stay of the Sqn for 8 years.


In his role Capt Hayes oversees all enrolmennts to our Squadron, he regularly visits to discuss current affair issues, ensure cadets welfare is cared for & provide support for both cadets & staff.
